SOTW 300 Discussion
Congratulations to littlefeet for winning last SOTW!
The theme for this week will be: FREESTYLE.
All entries are to be sent to me by Saturday evening. I'm about 6-8 hours ahead of the US timezone, 10h for CA and +- 1 hour for EU.
Read the full rules HERE.
In this thread you're allowed to discuss the following:
- General queries about SOTW, regarding the theme etc.
- Questions about rules.
- And any other help you may need.
- NO SPAMMING!
-
I actually have a question? Is the voting time really only 24 hours?
-
Yes but the the voting were delayed for SOTW 299 since we nearly had no entries, so therefore the entry time will be shorter then usual this week.

- Saturday evening the voting thread will go up and will be open until Sunday night.
- Once a winner has been crowned on Sunday evening he will get to choose the next weeks theme, wait for a winner PM from me.
- And next Monday the whole show starts over again.
1 day is enough since most of the votes are cast for the first couple of hours and it's usually moving pretty slow towards the end.

I think 24 hours is so little time ? Cant understand why you dont do it more fluently(hope thats spelled right) I mean why not run the vote thread and the thread for the next battle at the same time? so sunday voting is off and the new vote starts at the same time at the new contest so they run at same time? vote 199 same time as entry thread for 200? Would give more votes if someone isnt here weekends they cant vote?
-
We had it like that before but it gets so dragged out with 7 days of voting. This way the competition is quicker and more simple with one thread at the time and no dislocation.
On the entry side there would only be a difference of one day, Mon-Sun instead of Mon-Sat.
I'm aware that there would be more voters the way we had before and that some people are not able to vote each week, but that's a small sacrifice that has to be made sometimes.

I dont see how its drags up the SOTW because the voiting time is shorter? If the entry thread is still monday to saturday you still have to wait a week till the new vote is up anyway? So the time would be the same the only thing different is that the vote would be for a coupple of days and not 24 hours? I for one don't think it represent the void if you only let the few lucky whos on at weekend to vote Its not dragging its just
#1 entry thread 1 is up
#2 entry thread 2 is up + vote 1 starts
#3 vote 1 stops + thread 3 starts + vote 2 is up and so on
So the time would be the same but i was just wondering because i found it weird only being 24 hours

For some reason we moved over to this system and when I took over the hosting of SOTW it had proven to work well and is easy to manage, so we kept going as it is now ever since.
I do not know what or how else to reply to your detailed comments without sounding like a negative arse

i feel that the system works well the way it is now, extending the vote time by another 6 days may cause more votes, but it may not change the out come of the polls anyways. and by extending the time, it only increases the risks of the thread getting lost over time. plus most active members do vote for most if not all the sotws. count me in this week i got something i wanna doo
