Ok, I downloaded several mb of of cloud textures last night & put them together. Now I have my first decent nebula. w00t!

I tryed filling some space with stars but they wrecked it so I'm sticking with the top one...

C&C would be great

Whoa, that's a lot of planets. You must remove some of them, it's too crowded, hehe. ^^
You should manipulate the clouds more, right now it looks just like a colored picture of a cloud, and that's not the point, right?
Also, when you position planets, think of it as a design thing, it must flow and be nice to look at. You shouldn't just slam some planets onto you nebula without giving it a thought at all. However, the colors are really nice, and you should keep that color! The cloud pics are very grainy, try to smooth it using the blur tool or NeatImage[/img], which is a program that removes digital noise from pictures, it's really good.
I would also make the big field to the left more detailed OR make it transparent, which means you see space. And if you're gonna have stars, make a good starfield instead of using those blurry stuff. Greg Martin has made a tutorial for making nice starfields, and you can of course download my stasrbrushes from my DeviantART if you have CS.
