I also feel you need to focus more on direction and more frequent smudges...

Like wrftw is saying, you have too soft of settings, looks like maybe in the high 40's... Try going into high 80's to low 90's to get more interesting details and again smaller strokes rather then long smearish kind. Try to form direction while attempting to still draw attention to yhour focal.

Keep trying, you won't get better if you don't keep trying ^^

Also another good step is to always throw in a little dodge/burn on some of your final layers
