i think it has no depth, try making the sides a little darker and blur them a little.

That's not what he ment. Still no depth

Be complimentary people! Its a great sig with some amazing colours. As for the depth try blurring certain points with the blur tool, as in, the very far background the most and then less and less as you move closer to the focal, it won't give you completely perfect depth as usually a tag needs to be brought up using it from the first layer but it will certainly work. As for everything else your spot on the money! I would try using a larger canvas size in future though.

People don't -need- to be complimentary. If you come off as being too nice about something people won't be motivated to improve.
Also, Neilo, did you not save your PSD? It feels like when you tried to make the sides darker you just went ontop of the whole image and used the burn tool and then blurred it, which won't work out for you. You should start from the bottom and make the furthers back layers darker, beneath your adjustment layers, then it'll blend well with the tag.

I quite like this, but I agree with the depth.
Apply the image, get out your blur tool, blur the oars on the left and the ships bow on the right.
lower the opacity a tad.
get the burn/dodge tool, and bvurn a small outline around him, and also put that on lower opacity to stand him out a bit.
Aplly image and then using a high pass filter, and playing with the blending style is also a good way to increase depth

^Great what I think is an abstract giftie from Distello^

A compliment is always nice otherwise it shows the work in a completely bad light, as if there are no good parts to it. Its easy to compliment someones work and still be critical about it, allowing them to make the improvements without feeling dishearted. you should try it some time.

Distelo, I agree with Dolce. I bet that all of us in this forum have different likings. For example, i love dark tags. You don't have to like dark tags, but you have to respect that i like them.

I'm starting to think about what is wrong with you people.
You don't have to act like a asshole just to give CnC and hope this would act like a motivator the original poster/creator of the piece to improve.
You should really look up something called "Constructive criticism", it would do you really good.
People don't post their work here to get smartass comments such as "it's bad", wich you guys are not far from.
In this thread you could learn a think or two from Distelo & Intrepidmisfortune. In general on this forum a great example of how to give good constructive criticism is Slave.
