    Default How to center text

I'm making a tutorial for this sig: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...eganowicz1.png and I would like to know if there's some way to center the text that I use for the tutorial. Whenever I press the center button that comes up with the text tool the text gets thrown over way too far to the left. I'm using CS3 btw.

    Ctrl+T?

Then hold ctrl.. o.0 pretty super basic stuff, you should know this if you're going to try and teach anything to anyone.

I only make signatures and thus, haven't ever had to center my text. No need to be an ass about it.

I wasn't being an ass, I am telling you as someone who has used Photoshop for.. quite a bit, uses it on the daily bases and makes a living off it that you might want to learn what the program even is before you attempt to tell someone how to use it to make something.

It's like me attempting to tell an Olympic Artistic Gymnast what she/he should do when spinning in the air without me even knowing what the Sport is. So take my comment in good faith, if you put out a tutorial it WILL blow back in your face and people will remember you as that one guy who put out a crappy tutorial and got defensive with a digital artist when he got advise.

Bit unnecessary dude, we've been a bit harsh on new-comers as of late.
Personally I see someone putting out a tutorial as a nice gesture to help other people, regardless of how good or bad it may be. I mean you do have a point these things are usually known but I guess you only really learn something when you're told about it (or find it).

Thats my two cents anyway chaps, nighty night.

You helped answer my question, so thanks for that, but then you also made a comment that was wholly unnecessary for no real reason. Because I don't know how to do one specific thing (and if it never came up as something that I had to do, why should I absolutely know how to do it? I've learned photoshop through experience, not reading how to use its features), you automatically assume I'm going to make a crappy tutorial? Thank you very much, I appreciate that greatly.

EDIT: And anyway, all that lets me do is move the text around, not center it in the graphic like I wanted to.

I do agree that it's something pretty basic, but given I've only ever made signatures it's not something I've ever had to do.

Answering someone with direct words and removing the training wheels in the text isn't being harsh, being harsh is telling him that he is a novice and shouldn't attempt to make tutorials considering that the signature that he is going to try and have people make is pretty shitty. I would suggest for him to get better at making signatures, learn how to use Photoshop and then try again.

    Notice the difference.

The tutorial will come out crappy no matter how you look at it, how can you teach someone something if you don't know how to do said something? You would have just typed on the tutorial what we told you with no real idea of what you're saying.

However I didn't say that because like I told Distelo, I wasn't trying to be harsh or a dick. You guys are too used to having your friends baby step you and bullshit some compliments down your way, just because my reply didn't contain 'lol' and smily faces doesn't mean that I'm in auto-asshole mode.

Now look at this difference; That signature is OK im sure it can improve though xD.. lol. jk jk, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TUT BRO! <- if this felt better to read than what I said then maybe you can understand what I mean by people are used to being baby stepped.

Thank you for telling me my sig is shitty. I understand you're a professional and your e-dick must be like, at least large condom-sized, but I'm not exactly making a tutorial for professionals. I'm making a tutorial for people who really like the sig, and want a tutorial of it. If you can tell me what's wrong with the sig, I'd very much appreciate it; I'm always looking to improve and since you're the first person who's been really negative on it, I haven't gotten much advice on what to improve with it yet.

And bottom line, unnecessary negativeness is unnecessary. I asked a question, and wanted an answer. For you to also throw in 'LOL YOU'RE SUCH A DUMBFUCK FOR NOT KNOWING THAT' is just goddamn childish and speaks volumes of your maturity level. Especially since your fix didn't even work for what I needed.

EDIT: Oh, I read your comment thoroughly now and see you think I'm wanting to say how to use this technique in the tutorial. That's not the case. I just want to keep the text centered for the tutorial itself, to make it look clean.

CTRL+T moves the entire layer. Even if it doesn't, you can move the entire fucking layer through the options in the right above "layer options". You would think that's the first thing you would do, you know, since it's a layer that you are trying to modify.. maybe use the modification tool? Other than that I can name about 8 different ways to move the text simply through options in the top, it's no Science. This is why it's basic knowledge, this is why you can't teach anyone anything and should refrain from doing so and this is why I am trying to be nice and get it across to you.

I haven't said that your signature sucks, I used it as an example of things that I would say to be a dick. But since you are already offended, I know newbies who have been doing GFX for about 2 weeks who are worlds apart in skill than you. Rather, I should say vision because GFX isn't really a respectable Art form for you to be getting so bent over for. GFX uses stolen renders from art works created by digital artists and then edited, so excuse me if I hurt your non-existent ego and little girl feelings. I'm not brushing my ego, I'm not telling you how much better than you I am at moving a layer.. I am giving you information that you should have listened to and/or Google'd to verify.

So before you get on sissy and start bitching expecting some sort of knee-bending apology, remember that not everyone is out to attack you if they aren't being super friendly. If I may, allow me another suggestion. Stop using the internet or stop doing GFX, I am possibly one of the nicest people you will meet with actual years of experience in this shit. Everyone else will disregard you and brush you off as another low-tier scrub, this is why the GFX scene is dead, because people don't speak to new comers and new comers get ego's and stop speaking to even newer comers. Do you get where I am going with this? I wasn't being a dick, I clarified why and how I wasn't being a dick and you still acted hurt.

    Man the fuck up.
