Question How would I do this?

This is coming from a photoshop amateur, but how would I be able to create that curved line separating the text and the icon? Also, how would I make it lighter on one side and darker on the other, like it is here?

    Thanks

Pen tool would be the easiest way. Just hit selction, and put on a slight feather radius, fill it in, and adjust it how you want.

I sort of understand what you mean, but would you mind explaining it a little more please?

Use the pen tool on a seperate layer to draw the basic shape that you want. Then click make a selection adn keep the feather radius at 0. Fill it in with black/whatever color and lower the opacity and reposition as needed.

As for making it lighter and darker just make a selection using the pen tool or lasso on either side of the line and fill it in w/ a darker color and raise/lower the opacity as needed

okay, I have done that. It only covers this much area when the feather radius is 0

How do I get it to cover all the way to the edge?
