Changin one file type to another

I have found a lot of pics on the internet that i would like to use on some sigs or bg's in PS7. I copy and paste them onto PS. Then i click and drag it onto the big bg that i want it to be on. But it wont let me. I think this is happening b/c the pic is a gif. and not a jpg. The pics that are jpg, i am able to move and what not, but the pics that are gif. i cant.

Then i tried taking the gif, and clicking save as, and saving it as a jpg. Well it doesnt give me that option.

How do i take a gif and switch it over the jpg or anything else that will allow me to do stuff with it.

Cant u just copy and paste? copy the image. then go onto the big BG and paste it.?

uhh u have to change it to either rgb color another color setting u cant leave it as index

Copy and paste it into paint then Re-Save it as a .jpg, then do what you wish.
