i think the suns rays should be vector, the glow looks like its way behind the actual sun and it has an ugly color compared to the bright yellow.

Whats a good way to make the rays vector?

large out comin shapes like triangles or something with alot of perspective

if the brushing is on a different layer, get rid of it:
just make another vector layer instead.

for the sun rays, try using lines

I wouldnt suggest using straight lines for the rays...try making arcs here and there around the sun, decreasing in thickness as they are farther out.
