Alright, well right after I got back from my little weekend vacation I was plugging some things into my computer when I think I must have bumped something, because now the sound quality I get is pure grade A bullshit. I have no idea why, but my speakers are crapping out on my (my sub's fine though).
I've tried using different media players, and I can conclude that it's more than likely a hardware problem.
I unplugged everything and plugged it back in.
I went back and checked all the cables, they're all plugged in all the way. I also followed the cables for any tares or anything of the sort.
I looked for any visual signs of damage on the speakers, the sub, and the PC but found nothing.
I'll try opening my PC and making sure there's nothing wrong with my audio card as a last resort, since my PC hasn't been opened in years, is covered with dust, and has thousands of cables running in and out of ithe back of it. Does anybody know what could possibly be wrong with it though? Music's all that keeps me sane while I'm sitting here for hours and hours...

Have you tried restoring your computer to an earlier date, before the problem occured?
Also try downloading the newest drivers available for your soundcard.
If all else fails, sound cards aren't to expesive these days.

Yeah, it was my soundcard... I stole another one out of some old computer I had laying around the house and my speakers work fine now - thanks anyways. While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a good equalizer program?

Theres an equalizar in WMP, if that what your using.
If your using WMP (windows media player) goto View > Enhancements > Graphic Equalizer
Also Check out the SRS WOW effects, it significantly increases the quality of the music, mostly bass. (Don't use unless you have good headphones, and good speakers, if you don't it sounds like shit)
