Suzhou was a major hub for the silk industry in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It was China's weakest dynasty, yet ironically the wealthiest. Suzhou is famous for it's Venice-ish canals and Tiger Hill. Many homes along the canal are 1000 years old and are still inhabited.
