Set the blending mode of this layer to Lighten and Duplicate Layer (ctrl+J).
Flip the new layer vertically: Edit>Transform>Flip Vertically. http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8269/u49fe.th.jpg
Now just change the Hue/Saturation for each of the layers by pressing ctrl+U. Make sure you check "colorize". Once you are satisfied with the image and colours go to Layers>Flatten Image. This is what i came up with, you can experiment with it more tto make it look better.
