Ive had a couple like WAVEPAD and FL, but i want a program that will break the layers up into instruments.
I need to turn up the steel drum in Promiscuous Girl. Apparently Itunes doesn't register it very well and i can't hear it at all. A friend of mine said FL can do this, but I've had trouble finding out how -.-

What, you want to higher a certain instrument in a song? You mean in an mp3? The only way to do that is to play around with the equalizer. There is no program that can break up a song into layers. It's like asking for a program that can break up a JPG file into PSD layers.
Or did I misunderstand the question? :P
Spikee: Cakewalk is old, no one uses it anymore. The manufacturer has released a newer software called Sonar.
BlackOut: Cubase SX3 or Logic. They are both the standard for professionals. I use Cubase SX 2.02, which works just as fine as the latest version.
Yeah my bro has been using Cubase for years, but i cant find any trials or anything and I dont want to use torrents becausemy router is gay.

my friends (who thankfully aren't pirates) use audacity, which is pretty crude. At school though, we use audition.
