I hope Deviant links are ok, didnt see anything against them in posting rules:P N e ways. Made the rocks in the foreground in terragen, the rest was made in photoshop using stock brushes and filters. CnC greatly appreciated.

DeviantArt links are ok, but you have to ask a mod before you post em. I
don't know if the same rule applies after the upgrade to vBulletin.
Now, about your piece. It's a nice concept, but not well executed. The
stars can use a sort of a "bump" to appeal a bit more even though I
understand that the main attraction seems to be the destruction of the
planet. The terragen work seems ok. The planet is pretty good, but could
use some work (texture wise). As for the explosion, judging by the trail of
gas, it seems that something crashed into the planet so should there be a
bigger explosion rather than a bit of light?
It's a good piece nonetheless and I'd like to see another piece from you to
see how it turns out.

The planet itself looks a little bit glossy, maybe you should try to use a
different kind of texture? Take a quick look at any of those sites for more info.

These tutorials also shows you how to add a bit of glow on your planet,
which makes the planet itself look a lot better.
The stars is important to, if you use brushsets, don't overdo or use the
same brush over and over again, that would only make it look bad.
The stars should be visible on the black areas to.
Good work though, I'd like to see more spacescenes from you. :)

Make it at a much higher resolution, i'm not into the planet texture and the lighting doesn't illuminate the atmosphere and sky. Use some ocloured lighting and really bring the peice to life, the ideas are good though, i'm liking them. And also, try and visualise HOW a thing like this would affect the Earth, a cloud that big would... Well, to have a cloud that big, the Earth shouldn't be included in the pic, it would wipe earth out in one go :) Keep practising, bigger canvas, more time, ALot more time.. we're talking 5-15 hours :)
And don't rush to finnish it the same day you started, taking breaks and sleep is important since you better find things to inprove if you aren't tired. ;)Quote:

You make the planet on a separate peice... or i do . I make my planets a size of 3000x3000 atleast, upto 5000x5000.
I was referring to the lighting in general, chivalry :) And for the peice... maybe something like 2500x2500 ( or any dimension above that )
