Well for a first attempt it's not bad. I suck at giving advice, but I'll try.

If you're really new at Photoshop, play with it. Play with it until your head falls onto your keyboard and you pass out. Wake up and play with it again. Rinse and repeat.:)

On a more serious note, stick around and read some tutorials here. There are a lot of helpful hints here, and all over the web.

With what you got there, I'd add some colour, maybe lose the lens filter, and read up on some text tutorials, although text is the hardest part of any piece, at least for me.

i would say make it a sig, so cut off the top half. color is a must also
