Death Metal

Necrophobia are pretty damn good. And Satyricon are cool too, earlier stuff and new. Satyricon have drastically changed thier style now though, they used to be corpse painted "Grim frosty castle of Norge in the frostbitten winter" type band. Now they have a bit more of a modern style. They have ditched the corpse paint and axes though =/

I've already been reccomended Satyricon a few times, but I'll check out Necrophobia too next time I'm on BitTorrent.

THe chariot. Don't know if they're death metal but they're damn good. PLayed here a couple of days ago, heard 'em before that though.. probably shoulda gone, haha :p

and sorry dude (PenguinElitist), but I wouldn't be able to help you at all, because I'm only into melodeath and stuff I know you wouldn't like.

Children of Bodom dont really fit into the Black or Death metal categories. But I wouldn't call them Melodeath/black metal either. They are their own category.

I can't say I see where you're coming from, older Children of Bobom is practially stereotypical melodeath. Newer COB is similar, but has heavy mallcore influences though.

Older CoB is neo-classical(ish) aint it? I always decide how much of a melodeath band a band is by comparing them to Borknagar...
