New home/portfolio layout! Good/bad?

Hi everyone!
im looking for some tips on a new layout for my webpage im working on, i would like some feed back so i can tell if theres anything i can improve!

The second row of menus are there to display how the site look when your hovering your mouse over the portfolio link. the portfolio navbar shouldnt be visible otherwise!

someone has any good tips on where to start learning macromedia flash? im stuck :(.

To start learning *Adobe* Flash (It sounds weird, I know) Just mess around with it... That's how I learnt...

But unless your going to be doing actionscript and how to load data from files, you don't want to make a site in pure flash. Plus, IE/FF don't recognise it as being dynamic, so you get the old stuff and have to clear cache to update if your doing it via AS... I had a workaround once, but that made FF essentially execute a DOS attack on the server o_0.

I quite liked it, but I don't really design.. I prefer to code the shit and let other people do the designs ^^

to do the hidden/appearing links is pretty simple with CSS search google for "hover link css list". You don't need flash to do that.

I like the look. it's clean, simple. It's mildly generic, but a good jumping off point for sure. At least you tried something instead of doing the basic out-of-the-box design that most people go with (header...body...footer).

Oh, yeah, hover/dissappearing links...

JS + CSS. Javascript to do mouseover properties, CSS properties to be set by javascript... Just change the display properties... Or you could reposition them from off the page, but I don't like that method...

well you don't really even need javascript. it can be done solely with CSS. If you want to add a sliding effect, it could be done with javascript added in. But you'd get a much smoother cleaner look with Flash.

Even IE CSS?
