Her whole face is shaded. Try having light on one side of her face and shadow on the other. It's quite flat and the background stands out too much. Potraits are hard, but keep trying and you will be good at it. :)

Thanks for the comment Rabies, I actually thinmk that portraits are my strong point, so does my uni tutor, who is a published portrait photographer.
Saying that, I am looking at this on a different monitor at the moment, and her face does look very dark, it doesn't on my comp at home. Hmmm...
