Just finished designing this in my Design Engineering class, took me 6 hours, though thinking of what to do took most of the time then actually doing it XD.
Everything is designed by me but the screen shot of the desktop. Got that from google searching for vista desktops. I plan on designing my own desktop specifically for this so I can call it all mine later :).
The CD is a glass texture right now since I didn't have time to skin it, I'll probably use my CD animation cover from the battle I created a few months ago.
The lighting is a bit bad or the way it the shot was taken since the top of the screen is white and so is the ground plane :P so I need to fix that also.
Also this was designed in Rhino 3D.
Comments Appreciated.

it looks nice, is this your first 3d work?
only thing is it's hard to tell the laptop from the background in some parts, maybe change the background color.

they look pretty nice. like you said though, lighting should be fixed. there might be a bit much contrast between the black and the white on it, I was thinking one or both should be a bit more grey. at the same time though, it does look unique and it's not a big deal. dunno about the colorful buttons on the last one though, they stand out a bit much. nice job overall though.

Nice man. I want to learn 3d but i'm lazy.
Some lettering on the keyboard could make it a little more realistic. As could some LED's.
But i like :D

It's only for professionals who know how to type XD. lol nah here's my latests versions:
The frontal view, and the one with two seem the most realistic lighting and dimension wise.
Just make sure they dont look like their floating :P
Unless thats what your going for XD

Deadloader
Hahaha, there's no docks for the locking mechanism on it.. which seems odd, also the texture of the render seems to lack detail.. but still it's rather nice work just those small details which make all the difference you know

You need to add a plane over the actual screen, with a material fading in transparency as it gets further away. Or something, Id just experiment. Basically, if you look at a screen from the side, it doesnt look like that (kind of obviously)

I wish my Vaio looked like that :) The screen is shiny, so there should be some reflection.
