yeah, the first is best. on all of them, try to make the stock fit better by having the lighting in the bg match the shading on the stock. so on your second post, try adding a light source (you could do this in a variety of ways, most simply by using a large soft white brush and just clicking) in the bg to match where the highlights on the stock are, which in this case are in front of his face. then darken the bg where there are shadows, which is everything behind him. and the text, i'd make it stand out a lot less because it draws attention away from the stock.
