I made this one for the purpose of selling hoping that someone wants to buy it off some site I'll post it on. I got like halfway through this one and remembered rob saying don't use charcoal/black with any bright color like orange and green. But i was to close to being finished to switch it so i was like fuck it I'll keep going. Anyways CnC on this one guys. And yes the giant PRG in the middle is a watermark.
the font on the text is kinda hard to read. Im the kind of person who likes alot of color, so all that green kind of stands out, I'll give you a break coz it seems like you rushed. The spotlight on the nav looks good, but where you redid it on the sides of the layout look a little overdone. The size of the layout (being a static site) seems scrunched and small. The lines you used in the background seem kind of useless, basically because they are floating.
Another thing I noticed was the background itself. It LOOKS like diagonal lines, which is okay, but you want to design things purposely, so if you're going to use a design, it would behoove you to take advantage of it, be creative, don't overdo it, but use your imagination.
I like the layout because it speaks alot of potential. I am not particularly fond of the header text, but the banner itself fits with the layout, if not the green that was used.
IMO, you can do alot with this if you want to. Things like a more original content layout, more diverse use of color, use of gradients in certain elements of the site (nav, dividers, etc) and filler content (icons, buttons, misc images) can make this look ultimately a whole lot better.
I don't know if you are going to do any further progression with this layout, but I can tell you you have alot of room to be creative. Can't wait to see the finished product. You don't have to use my advice at all, but i just thought I would share some of my intuitions with you.
Okay, messed around a bit, I know its not great, but this is a little what i had in mind. guess by showing you what i meant, you could see what i mean ;) Left everything alone except for content and header :). You see where I tried to mix things up and be a little creative as far as what you put on a template site. Using filler content can help visualize what kind of content a site can hold.
Hope this helped :)
