Canon EF 17-40 4L test shots

Today I got my 17-40 4L lens and I have been trying it out. It's really sharp! So glad I got it. Here are some totally unedited shots with 100% crops. There was NO post processing at all except the cropping. Straight out of camera. All are ISO 100, 125/1 with different aperture.

Nice, that is actually really sharp. Did you use your lighting or not?
And is that to replace your kit lens?
I was considering the sigma 18-50 F/2.8 or the Pentax 16-50 F/2.8, but I think im just going to leave them for a while and continue with my 18-55/50. Plus I want to get the Sigma 10-20, its hawt :)

Id like to see similar tests if the lens at like, F/8
The lens should be even sharper at F8 :)
The comparisson of sharpness in my 50mm F/1.4 between wide open and F/8, there is quite a difference, the lens is alot softer at F1.4 :( and you can see some chromatic aberration slippin in on the top of the knives.

Yeah, the only reason I didn't try f/8 was that I used a flash for the indoor shots and I couldn't bother to lower the flash power, haha. :P But I'll try it soon!

Ah.. looks really good yes. I've owned mine for 6 months, and I'm really pleased with it. :)
