What does one think, when they hear "fear"?
How can one describe this feeling?
To some, even the slightest can shed tear,
And have it disturb their very well being.
For something that is only a mere thought,
Though still dreaded by the bravest.
It can cause even they to sit and rot,
To seep into the long, undiscovered rest.
When confronted by our biggest of all,
What should one do to stay in the game?
The fight for the win needs one good call.
Can we overcome it, and still feel the same?
Nevertheless once it has been defeated...
The clock chimes; time still goes on.
We stand tall and hope it's not repeated,
But fear itself to some will never be gone...

I wrote this poem back in High school. I've kept it for all this time. Feel free to comment if you like.

I credit anyone who writes poetry, so I first applaud you on that primarily.
However I think free verse is surely for you. The rhymes just felt so, idk "forced" that it just threw off the flow of the poem. I even said it outloud, and some of the rhymes just flat out threw off the pattern of syllables.
Meaning like the first line had 4 feet, the second 3,third 3,and the final one 4. Which is good for a poem, but the second verse does not follow this pattern, so it kindof throws the whole poem off if you're reading it out loud.
