Right well this is my first try in this sort of style i would of vectored a mountaineer but i dont think im anywhere near that sort of thing i dont expect anything like wow amazing but if u can lie to me that would be great (only kidding).Anyway here it is my first try no tutorials. I went for the mountain more jagged u dont see many mountains that are smooth hehe CnC anyway :)

It kindof just looks like something thats done in MS paint.
To start with vectors, I would trace pictures so you can add shading and what not.
Though I give you props for trying a new style.
You gotta start somewhere! The most distinct part of a vector is sharp edges. You have the right idea with the sun's rays. Buuuut, you notice the clouds and sun are just soft brushed on. I'd recommend using the pen tool (there's a tutorial for it in the tuts forums here). It creates really clean and crisp lines and edges.
