I like the idea. But i think there is just a few too many colours. That amount of colours would be fine if you placed them right. So colours just don't look good next to each other.
The colour wheel should help you out.

Also it could be handy to find a picture of a colour wheel and have it open in photoshop, then colour pick of it.
how do i use that thing? just use the colors that are in the Strip
You pick a colour and it will show you complementry colours which you can use.
