from my experience(virtually none) too much grunge brushing does more damage than good, wait for one of the pro's. and this belongs in the support mate...

Diamond
Grunge
Try to do a layer of black and white seperately in different layers
Adjust some of the layers' blending options to any but not normal :D
Dun repeat the same brushes and try to use as many different brushes
Thats a small tips :P

Contempt
i like hard grunge better but yea they can be hard to place right
Make about 10-15 layers. (more if you want more depth) Set all of them to "Soft Light" except the bottom one. Turn on your brush's shape dynamics in the top right and adjust the angle jitter so they rotate. Then, turn on the "Other Dynamics" and adjust the opacity jitter slightly, so it varies in opacity. On each layer, brush with a separate grungy brush, and alternate between white and black on the layers. Set the bottom layer to "Hard Light" and put a layer under it with a color you want (or gradient if you want multiple colors)
That's the basics. If you want more control over the brushing, don't use the dynamics.
