How bout by not doing some stereotypical stroke + bevel/emboss. and doing a text that fits the piece. I have no idea how you have 172 layers, nor do I care, because it doesn't look like it, and thesepieces(http://www.deviantart.com/view/23007584/ http://www.deviantart.com/view/23007719/ ) have nowhere near 172 layers. Back to your id.
It lacks depth, just looks wierd, and just needs work overall. That's all in my opninion though, don't listen to me if you like it, I'm just telling you my view.
172 layers of someone else's brushes? Normally I wouldn't complain about that but it's your ID. It's suppose to reflect you.
