i like the focal point on the first ( the sprite and around it) but the abstract on the sides maybe needs a bit more blends its sort of takes away the focal point
the second one is simple but i like it :)

I myself don't like Sprite art very much... but the background in the first one is STELLAR! I really like the 3d feel of it. Second sig... well, I personally am not feeling it... feels fake.
