Think about taking about 5-10 pixels off it, top and bottom; there's some dead space that it doesn't need there.
I prefer the more colourful versions like v3. I don't think it flows well enough to look good in B+W.
v3 is the best imo but they're a bit big.

You definitely started to over do it. I like v8.
I think you made the right choice.. your current is my favourite.
