Well, I dont know what Blender 3D is capable of so I wouldnt know if its good or not..
BUT, I like it :P
Blender 3D is capable of most stuff C4D or 3DS max is capable of, so I'm just a poor little noob, but this is my best model/render so far. :)
Thanks.
Blender 3D is free also.
That's amazing! Maybe tone down the leg thing reflection on his body though :)
It's decent, the design of the robot isn't extraordinary, but overall its ok. And about blender being equal (or nearly) to c4d or 3ds max... I disagree. If that were true, nobody would bother paying the $3,500 for 3ds max ;)
Dang thats a nice render, but a bit grainy
I hated Blender, its too much like 3dsm ... it confuses me!
I think I oversharpened it... I could also have put the GI sampling higher, but that takes even longer to render.Quote:

I know it's not extraordinary, and it certainly has flaws, but still, it's my best, probably most complete model.Quote:

And the reason people pay $3,500 for 3ds max is that it is considered as a professional tool that has been around for a while, and many people are good at it.
Blender is not fully at 3ds level (yet), but it's getting there. There are few great Blender modelers, and only a handful good animators. The program is still young. 3ds (and maya and all the other pro tools) have thousands of skilled professionals.
Tell me... Does 3ds have a built-in fluid simulator?

90% of the people that download blender never gives it more than a quick glance. The UI is far from beginner-friendly. It has none of the nice big buttons in C4D, for example.
The material looks really nice and glossy. Pretty cool. The only fallback I have is the shape of the robot :P
nice, how long are you playing with blender? I'm thinking about switching to legal software so I'd like to know if blender is a good replacement of c4d
I've been 'blendering' for some months now.
I think you should just try it and see... The interface is very different from anything else, and will be confusing in the beginning. It has none of the nice big buttons with images that C4D has.
So, when you know how to use it, Blender can almost match with any pro 3D program.
You will most likely learn a lot faster than me, since you have some 3D experience. I opened Blender as 100% newb the first time.
