The modified one seems fairly good looking, I really like the captain america one..perhaps with another font it may look even better, but i already like it.

they're a bit too "all over the place" for me, and the contrasts between the colors is too big :(

Sharpen the stock, or as you call it render. The grungy style does not always go with every stock. Blend in some more. You need a lot of work. We have some tuts, check them out.
