i was trying to make the bioshock one very chaotic, and the other 2 i was experimenting with C4ds, i didnt add a light source on the venom because i didnt think i needed one.

Now i can kinda see a reoccurring theme with your stuff here. Some of the c4ds you use dont blend well with the render color wise. Try using the hue/saturation tool to have the colors relate back to the render. Also try this:
Image>apply Image, Filters>sharpen>sharpen, Image>Apply image, Filters>Blur>Guassian Blur then erase the blur on the render. This'll add a little more depth
