My first real render using photoshop, tell me what I can improve on, and I'll update the pic.

That is really nice, I like the way his eyes stick out! Also the green smoke effect rising up. :D Nice

i think you should get a concept going next time. a filter + other stuff wont really cut it for large art. Sorry to put it so bluntly but try not to use filters more than you have to, they tend to be the mark of a begginer if not done right.

I think you should look at some examples of LP's and then come up with a concept and then work on that. We're always here to help you, so we can help jump start you.
