work on colours and blending.
i think the dark BG goes with what you where thinking about (i can read minds).
expand your effects a bit so its not too empty.
add a textured background, flare it up a bit
mask around the edges of the render and bring the waveyness to the front
just work on blending some more. add some more fading effects
Work on the blending and the background.
Effects are great, but as KidBuu said, try some sort of shattering or fading effect. :D
