It lacks depth, and the colors used in the background don't really match the "sprite".
Also, if I were you, I wouldn't use overlay borders.

Is that even a sprite? Or did you resize it to the size of a sprite?

I meant was it originally a render but you juts resized it to sprite size.
Render doesn't really look like a sprite, it just looks like a scaled down render.
It also doesn't look well cut out, I can see the white lines all around the edges.
Good background, but it doesn't work well for this kind of sig.
I would try a black background with orange effects and glossy surfaces.
