i like. the stroke border is not needed. patterns are really strong in this, just tone it down.
bg is simple. effects are simple.

really just browse around the internet, planet renders, here, tagmonkey, deviantart.

but to me to get better is to just experiment and see what works and what doesnt and try to spend alittle extra with each tag. try to have a concept in mind and a vision in mind and just go for it.

The reflection should have a bit of a blur on it. It helps to add that bit of realism. Also, if you adjust the overall Opacity of reflections to around 70%, it will kinda compliment the image, rather then control it.
