Well, you might say its double focal but both parts were important to me. I blured the bg, I sharpened the gun ( first filter > sharpen > sharpen the whole gun, and then on the top of the gun > filter > sharpen > sharpen more - for more depth expression) and I left the face as it was (Didn't sharpen it Nor Blure it - For the depth effect again). And about the lightning... Well, all hand made, cos his face was whole white with no shadings, Kind'a fun render to work with :)

the idea about engraving it on the gun sounds like a good idea.

I think what he means is that you could make it into a double focal but it may turn out bad and ruin it = ). I like it as it is, where did you get the render from?? Looks cool dude all i would say is that lighting may be a bit too strong.
