This is my first attempt at a signature after skimming through some blending and working notes... i thought id give it a try
id like some tips if anyone has any try not tobe too harsh :)

Dont use a blur-lighten effect cos it doesn't suit sigs like this,
Don't use fancy text (use default) it will flow better. It isn't a good choice to set a blending option on it, from exp.
For your first try not bad, not bad at all.

also i didnt like the white light-ish effect right infront of him but by the time i had decided against it i had gone way to far in lol
