Portrait Session with Ali.

i dont like the fact that she is covering her mouth. It really distracts me with the hat. i can see where you were going with it, but IMO the hat is too showy, would have preferred a more flat looking hat.
Btw did you enhance her eyes? Because they look cool, but a bit over saturated.
I like the lighting, the rim light to the side is nice. I see you used a 430 ex with that. Great usage of it.
i like the beauty dish look. but next time i would boom it. Right now it looks a bit like on-camera flash. if you can get it slightly higher above her and angled slightly more i think it'd make this great picture amazing. (Btw how do you like the beauty dish?)
I would have liked to see a shot without the b800 on the left.
My favorite shot of this shoot is your Ali shot on your flickr, awesome job and great setting for it.
I must tell you tho Color battle is AWEESOME. The gells set it off and the lighting is perfect for it. great job!
I wanna see more from you soon.

Thanks guys!
and couldnt agree more about the beauty dish. I actually was just telling my parents I plan on going into calumet, in san francisco, this saturday to pick up a boom arm, after my experience yesterday.
As for the beauty dish itself, its amazing. At lowest power settings on my b800, 1/250, f22, iso 200, it was still solid white light when i took a picture facing it. Incredibly high light output. It's great for specular highlighting, and for softening the skin without blowing it out. I can see myself using it for a lot of high key shots in the future.
