everybody starts out as a beginner.
one good tip i could give you though, is how you place your vocal point, in this case that would prolly be his face.
the human eye automaticy focuses on certain parts of an image when they first see it
if you were to devide an image into 9 pieces like the picture below, people generally
focus on the spots where the lines cross, its often a good idea to place your main vocal point near those spots on your signature, you dont have to be dead onn ofcourse,
it all depends on the size of the signature and the image your using but you dont want it all the way to the sides, or perfectly dead center.

another tip would be to have one set of text, instead of text in multiple places,
and to keep from having to big a text, so i doesnt distract to much from your main vocal point.
i would advice you to read up some tutorials in the tut section, and just keep it up :)
