The TIF format supports multiple layers in one image, but the different layers are only visible in PS, when you view it in any image viewer it only shows all the layers as one whole image. Like a PSD but it's previewable without using PS.
Those TIF C4D's that I got has 2 layers, one black background and one with the actuall render. You can save a TIF image as PNG but you can't have multiple layers then. So decide if you want the render with or without the bg or save one of each.
PNG is smaller in file size but does not support multiple layers.
I like to keep them as TIF ;)
But when I open a TIF file, it only has one layer... T_T
I am using photoshop CS4 portable...
btw, thanks for the info rad! :)
.tif files support an additional alpha channel independent from the basics RBG channels. It helps for when you're wanting to render the C4D onto a transparent bg. You can isolate and select only the alpha channel, which will allow you to delete the black bg that the C4D is rendered on even if part of the render is black, which makes things needless to say, a lot easier
TIFs can also be opened in illustrator! D:
/runs away
maybe the c4d itself has only 2 layer Z.Z...mine is also portable and hav no prob.
There is no difference in a portable version, I use it myself.
I doesn't need to be 2 layers just because it's TIF, some people like to use that format and as Ion said it's much easier to render out the bg from the piece via the alpha channels if there's only one layer.
If you want to keep them as TIF or convert to PNG is up to you.
Thnx 4 the help guys! :)
