overall a pretty nice drawing, i like it with the lines better.

Its a good start, but make sure that you add more color to it. Something is rarely one color with darker shades and lighter tints of that color. So instead of making the shadows just darker versions of whatever color the thing is, add new colors to those shadows. If it's skin, which is a warm color, use blues/purples for the shadows which will not only make it more appealing but make the warmer colors pop. It works vice versa as well.
