The L is too close to the O and also you should have used the same fade throughout... Other than that it's ok, could be more exciting :)
Blurrredddd i dislike the blurring. its okay i don't like the gradient.
I like the fact that it is very simple. Makes it easy to read and keeps a focus on the name of the club. Just a few questions about this though. Is the banner going to be used for for websites or print publications? That would change whether or not there should be anything in the background. Also, you have to consider who the audience will be.
I agree that the "o" is too close to the "L". You want to try and keep the spacing as equal as possible throughout that line.
As far as the fading and the gradient go, it's a little strange. The colors are kind of awkward because they are close but not the same. In my opinion, either the colors should match or be opposite. So like the darker red part of the "L" should either have dark red text around it or light red text around it. The fade in the "L" is what should be used as a reference since it is the largest part.
