Its best you used one type of definitive texture on the BG. Don't vary it too much. I dislike the scan lines. Remove them. I think the lighting emnating from the middle of the canvas is nice and you should focus on increasing more contrast within the piece, outside of the lighting to increase your overall depth. Again, use more varied elements in the piece. Work on composition and contrast. Keep at it!
