In my honest opinion, the photos looks a bit bland, especially the second one. And yes, they're big - you should resize em, they're a bit "difficult" to look at. Fortunately firefox can resize photos :'D

Try different angles and zoom, plus experiment with the settings on your camera - there's lots of options, a DSLR is a good tool. Are you familiar with the "golden ratio"? Compositioning has a big effect on photos.

But, keep practicing, experiment and study photography - you'll get the hang of it :) And, photoediting tools such as Photoshop and GIMP are your friends ;)
