i like the idea a lot. the sun on the first one is much better, the second one just looks like it's low quality. however, i like how the second one's glow reaches over the mountain. also, i'd eliminate about half of the black space, it's just too much in my opinion.
as far as how it was made, i dunno radial gradient maybe?

Unique! But the text for Silhouette on the bottom right is blah.
Assuming you use Photoshop:
Maybe you can duplicate that layer [Silhouette] and do some motion blur, put the duplicated layer below the original, and take the outer glow (I'm guessing that's what it is) off of the original.
Too much black in the picture, maybe lower the mountain some.

ill try that motion blur, i wanted the text balck bcos thats what a silhouette is... and i didnt want a stroke rele..
oh and, there probably is too much black - but as a wp, it serves well, just not as an image - ill put v1 on dA wp's then crop it and put it on :)
