At first I though this rocked, but now I'm not so sure :/

I think the same as you. Don't get me wrong, it is good. But it's the best at first glance. I think you need to make the effects to run smoother on the left instead of being weirdly cut up into sections. I would also suggest you removed the text or at least changed the font/color.
Overall, I do like it :) but it could be better with some adjustments.

Hmm, I've been getting that a lot lately. It's good, but with some adjustments... I guess I just suck at finishing :/

Anyway I think that bright ray thing(y ;)) should be angled more to follow the angle of the arm. Think it would give off a nicer looking effect.

Bit over saturated in some places and sharp in others.
