Well I can tell it would be him ;) I think the problem is the eye's are stretched and the face is to thin. You're doing well with the shading though. Keep going at it. It'll be awesome :)

Could make this a caricature, think it would look coo and it does look enough like him. Not sure where to go from here, I myself don't usually start with tones, although it's probably good to, I'm not sure what you're planning to do, maybe begin to add color, start on the clothes and background. If there's something in particular you know you're going to do next then I can probably help more.

You understood how he has a very skinny face, I would suggest that when you are adding more details you focus so on the face because he has a lot of lines on his face. As previously mentioned the shape of the eye seems off.
