Now the bg on -> i think you left him pretty empty :S like something its missing in that right side :S

First 2 for sure. Text seems pointless, it looks like you threw it on there for the sake of having it

1st one, it's pretty hard to pull off a B&W unless the lighting,depth and effects are impeccable. 3&4 are washed out, too much light, over contrasted, under saturated.

Definitely the first one. Colors are spot on and the effects work well with the render. Nice work. Drop the text though. I'll agree it seems a little pointless.
