I wanted to see this one with a focal too but horizontally i couldnt make it work so when all else fails... go vert baby!

Cool smudge, perhaps expand upon it a bit more so that the left isn't as empty.
As for the vert, the light is a bit too strong imo and I don't like rebecca black as a focal.

Vert one is good, horizontal one looks ew in a few places. I'd suggest cropping the vert one a bit and adding more effects.
Do the same thing in the vert.. a little different though.. and darker. make a background for it.

Thanks everyone for comments-- LOL Justin Bieber isnt too bad... he can actually sing and play like 5 instruments... i will admit he is a bit of a show boat tho :/ I dno i dont listen to his music but the render worked LOL
And Lewk... im sorry im having a hard time understanding what you mean... do you mean just continue the smudge to fill in the empty space?
