The atmospheric feel to it is airy and cheery.
Dante, on the other hand, looks a bit PO'ed.
Not a great balance of emotion there, my friend.
Try matching the colors to that radiance of kickass-ness he's showing, something darker and not so vibrantly colored.
The text looks horrible, I'd suggest you use Anti-Aliasing on it (Smooth - find it on the drop-down menu at the top text toolbar). And make it less transparent; I can't quite refurbish on what the text really needs, because I don't like it as a whole. It's a bit on the big side, I'd lower the text size where it doesn't rollover onto his face.
The text is kind of really ugly (no offence) IMO the render does not match anything at all. I have all the DMC games and i see no Cheery bright colours. Would look better if it was a darker maybe a red colour or something!

But anyway, I agree. The text needs mega work, and the colors are way too bright. Other than that, the bottom middle of the sig is one of the places that attracts the most attention, and it's kind of bare. To the left is the most brushing, to the right is the render, but there is nothing right there. Maybe fix that, the text, and the colors, and you'll be good. Keep working at it.
If you had a happy angel or something on the side, instead of that angry dude it'd match a lot better... change the colors to something darker and angrier.... o___O;; and the text is fugly... and big... If you fix the stuff everyone suggested it'd look really kickass ^^
